‘Grifters who take Daddy’s money but turn on family’ – Harry and Meghan Netflix docuseries reactions

The first three episodes of the highly anticipated docuseries on Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle aired on Thursday, and so far, the reviews are not in their favour.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s controversial documentary has aired and both social media and royal critics didn’t hold back, slamming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for ‘washing their dirty family laundry’ on such a public platform.

Episodes 1 – 3 of Harry and Meghan

The docuseries starts off with a statement saying that ‘it is a first-hand account of Meghan and Harry’s story’.

A second statement read that ‘members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series.

The first episode shared the impact of Harry’s childhood in the public eye and his and Meghan’s early secret relationship while the second episode looked at some of the headlines in the UK tabloid press with ‘racist undertones’.

During the first episode already Meghan defended their decision for going public, saying: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”

But not everyone is pleased about Harry and Meghan sharing their story, and royal experts have also weighed in on the shocking documentary ‘that promises to tell the “full story” of the couple’s estrangement from the royal family’.

Co-founder and editor in chief of True Royalty TV, Nick Bullen called it ‘a masterclass in self-promotion’ adding that he is stunned by it. Bullen also said he is very surprised by the openness in which Harry and Meghan have gone into ‘this’ and the fact that they are sharing text messages and very, very private photographs.

“They are sharing every single detail of their most secret trips during the early days of their relationship. This is a couple who left the Royal Family citing that they seek privacy.”

Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content of the series, but Bullen’s view is that they will most likely just see this docuseries as ‘another bump in the Meghan and Harry road’.

He went on to slam the docuseries saying it ‘is just noise and that you can feel it is already running out of steam’.

He added that a lot of people in the UK will probably just not watch it. “A lot of people in the UK have heard enough. They are fed-up with the whining, they are fed-up with the complaining, they are fed-up with the moaning,” he said.
