The Unusuals Wine Festival is a must-go event

Participation in the festival by wine producers is by invitation only, with the organisers ensuring that only top-quality wines will be featured.

It’s almost time for The Unusuals Wine Festival. The event is unique in Gauteng, as it showcases wines considered off the grid or sometimes less well-known, and not as mass produced. But it’s one of the bonus events linked to the festival that’s going to send hearts racing.

On Thursday, August 18, the festival will host the Wine Menu evening. Participation in the festival by wine producers is by invitation only, with the organisers ensuring that only top-quality wines will be featured.

Wines include Delheim Gewurztraminer; Lothian Vineyards Riesling; Lismore Viognier; Steenberg Semillon; The Foundry Grenache Blanc; Rustenberg Roussanne; Thelema Verdelho; B Vintners de Alexandria; Peter Bayly Tinta Barocca; Saronsberg Grenache Noir; Kloovenberg Carignan; Kaapzicht Skuinsberg Cinsaut; Paul Wallace Black Dog Malbec; The Drift Gift Horse; Barbera and David & Nadia Sadie Elpidios.

There will also be some international wines on the night, including Alabastro White, Sogrape Reserva, Herdade Do Peso Trinca Bolotas and Herdade Do Rocim Alentejo Vinho Tinto Alicante Bouschet from Portugal, as well as Chateau Los Boldos Carmenere from Chile. Some of these wines will be for sale, many at a reduced rate, so collectors have everything to gain. But some will not be for sale. Tickets cost R200.
