Food lovers, two new local cooking shows land on DStv
Two local chefs land cooking shows on the internationally acclaimed cooking channel and are ready to show the world what South Africa is made of.

The rise in foodies in South Africa must be the reason why Food Network, DStv channel 175, is premiering two local cooking shows that capture how local is lekker on the world stage.
Almost a year into our lockdown, people are still very much about home entertaining and trying out a variety of dishes in their homes. Even though restaurants are functioning at full speed, there are those with reservations.
“Food has always brought people together – especially during 2020 with extended lockdowns, social distancing and the inability to break bread with those closest to us,” says Henry Windridge, senior director at Discovery Inc.
“Food is how South Africans come together. The personalities and themes of our two new shows are geared to do just that,” he continues. It’s true, these shows couldn’t have landed at a better time and feature two home grown talents, the reputable chef Nti and boisterous chef on Katlego Mlambo, who are well loved on our shores.
Inside Job with Chef Katlego Mlambo kicks off this coming Saturday, while Street Food in Africa with chef Nti will be on our screens next Wednesday. Those who know both chefs can’t wait to see what they have in store.

For Katlego cooking runs in his blood as he spent most of his time in the kitchen with his grandmother while growing up in Eldorado Park, a township south of Johannesburg.

“This is where I developed my passion for cooking,” he boasts, adding that his show follows his journey to create gourmet food with South African flair and a taste for Africa. “Each themed episode showcases my love for local ingredients and fine dining culture, while I dance to my favourite playlists,” he says.
Nthabiseng Ramaboa, better known as chef Nti, is equally delighted to be gracing our screens to showcase what she is made of.
“Street Food in Africa takes viewers on a journey around South Africa, from its cities to its townships, all while exploring what defines the country’s culinary culture,” the Sowetan explains.
By drawing on the authentic flavours she grew up with, chef Nti will show how food is such an integral part of our identity – our national story. Chef Nti will share insights and her take on iconic dishes that have been reinterpreted and remixed over the years.
“I am proud and honoured to be a part of a platform such as Food Network, sharing some of my favourite South African street food snacks with the world. Food is my identity, I am going to use food to introduce our diverse rainbow nation to the world,” she says.
Windridge is equally excited the channel is bringing on board these cooking champs. “We’re sure viewers will be as captivated by the flair and charisma of both chefs as they welcome them into their homes this March,” he says.
