Uplands Matrics 2013 achieve 100% pass rate

Three learners in top 1% nationally

Ms Angie Motshekga, minister of basic education announced the matric results on Monday evening. She stated that the national pass rate for 2013 was 78,2% as compared to the 73,9% achieved during 2012. That is an increase of 4,3%. The pass rate for Mpumalanga has gone up from 70% in 2012 to 77,6%. This equals an increase of 7,6%.

“Well done class of 2013!,” said Motshekga. “There was a total of 67 855 distinctions obtained nationally in various subjects.”

The matriculants of Uplands College achieved a 100% pass rate for 2013 with 90% of the students obtaining degree access pass. Fifteen students obtained an A aggregate and A’s per pupil equated 1,82.

Three pupils were placed in the top 1% nationally for their respective subjects. They are Niksha Mothilal, Mauricio Carvalho and Mufaro Chiwara.

Niksha Mothilal got eight A’s with an 86,5% aggregate. Mauricio Carvalho achieved seven A’s and an 87% aggregate. Matthew Mullin, Stefanie Vieler and Jan Jerling all got seven A’s. Mufaro Chiwara got six A’s.
