HOEDSPRUIT – Southern Cross School, a unique bush school located within the Kruger to Canyon biosphere in the Lowveld has produced a phenomenal set of matric results.
The school, which is located within a wildlife estate near the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park, achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.
Every single matric learner achieved results that would enable them to study further at tertiary institutions.
Top achiever Alexis Mes is one of only two learners in all of Limpopo who made it on the IEB’s list of 80 IEB candidates. She achieved eight A symbols and an average of 93 per cent.
This prestigious list incorporated learners who were placed in the top 5 per cent in six or more subjects in the examinations.
Mes was also in the top one per cent of learners for four of her subjects and achieved 94 per cent for mathematics, 96 per cent for mathematics paper 3, 94 per cent for engineering graphics and design, 93 per cent for physical science, 92 per cent for Afrikaans 1st Additional Language, 91 per cent for history and 89 per cent for English home language and 95 per cent for life orientation.
Kayla Wheeldon secured seven distinctions and an 84 per cent average overall. Mashudu Mutshaeni achieved five distinctions and an 82 per cent average overall.
