Alleged rapist will return to court on Thursday

The 57-year-old man stands accused of repeatedly raping his 74-year-old relative.

PIENAAR – The bail hearing of a 57-year-old man who allegedly used his 74-year-old relative as a sex-slave resumed in the KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court last week.

Lowvelder previously reported that the victim’s daughter reported an incident of rape to the Pienaar SAPS on January 24.

According to community members, the victim has been living with the accused for an extended amount of time as she has not been well due to her old age.

The woman reportedly incurred injuries as a result of repeated incidents of rape and has reduced bladder control as a result thereof. The accused returned to court on Tuesday, when the SAPS indicated that the address that had given as his home address for purposes of his bail application, could not be confirmed. This led to a postponement in the accused’s bail hearing.

“His hearing continued on Friday in the KaNyamazane Magistrate’s Court. The accused was denied bail,” Lt Jabu Ndubane, spokesman for the Pienaar SAPS said yesterday. She added that his trial will begin on February 19.
