MBOMBELA – The absence of an alleged hit man in a murder trial led to the case being postponed in the Mbombela Circuit High Court last week.
A warrant of arrest was issued as Mr Selby Mboshane (32) did not show up for this week’s trial. Mboshane and Mr Mashudu Malema (27) are alleged hit men who were reportedly hired by a woman of Acornhoek to murder her husband on January 18, 2014.
The alleged mastermind behind the murder is Ms Casmina Chiloane. She was told to return to court in March along with Malema as well as another suspect allegedly involved in the case, Mr Advice Mapaile (26).
According to Capt Paul Ramaloko, spokesman for the Hawks, the four accused were arrested last year after the victim, Mr Advice Malope, was shot and killed on the doorstep of his home in Acornhoek upon returning from a local tavern on January 18. His wife, Chiloane, was arrested in connection with his death on March 8. On March 9, Mapaila was arrested as a suspected accomplice, but was not suspected to be a hit man.
The arrests of Malema and Mboshane followed between March 21 and 23, 2014. The accused’s trial was set to continue in the Circuit High Court, but the absence of Mboshane led to a warrant for his arrest being issued. The case will continue on March 16.
