Woman fined for possession of dagga

This past Wednesday Nora Sithole was found guilty of possession of drugs in the local Periodical Court.

MALALANE – This past Wednesday Nora Sithole was found guilty of possession of drugs in the local Periodical Court.

Sithole was arrested on February 13 for the possession of 11,5 kilograms of dagga.

After pleading guilty to the charge at her first court appearance on February 16, she was granted bail of R1 000.

State prospector Mr Simon Mathebe, asked Sithole, who had decided she would represent herself in court, if she was ready to proceed on the day of her appearance.

Sithole claimed not to be prepared as she was diabetic and not feeling well after having skipped her medication for three days in the holding cells.

Representing herself, she requested the court to grant her bail, which was granted on condition she honoured her next court date, which was February 25.

At her second court appearance, Sithole received two respective sentences of three months imprisonment on each charge, or payment of a R 1000 fine for each sentence.

Sithole paid the fine and was released.
