LYDENBURG – A local youngster has been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to star in a Renier Weideman film. Derick Truter is not only an aspiring actor, he is also a model.
According to the 19-year-old acting is the blood that runs through his veins. “I live for acting and when I am on stage or in front of the camera, that means everything to me.
Getting an opportunity like this for a young actor like me, is what I need for my career to grow in the right direction,” he said. He has several certificates and awards which are testament to his blooming acting career.
Derick is one of the few who have been chosen to go for an acting and filming course at Renier Weideman Studios. The course will be held from April 2 to May 7. “This is the second time when I got an opportunity like this. Due to a lack of funds I couldn’t make it to the first one and I really do not want to miss this second chance,” he said.

The cost of the course is R5 000 excluding travelling and accommodation.
