Superb performances help school raise funds

"We want all our pupils to have a better education and will host events throughout the year to make this possible."

LYDENBURG – Ricky Faber gave a splendid performance on Friday, April 4, at the Lydenburg town hall.

The well-known artist was accompanied by his wife, band and a young upcoming artist, Josh Dafonseca, who also gave a memorable show.The show was a fund-raising event for Jakkalskrans Akademie.

The school caters for pupils with disabilities and it needs funds to purchase special-learning equipment.

According to Esmé Bezuidenhout from the school, it wants the schoolchildren to have all the necessary stationery to aid their learning processes.

“We have a quadriplegic pupil who needs a computer. He is paralysed and cannot use the computers we have in the school. We also have schoolchildren who are deaf or suffer from dyslexia,” she said.

“We want all our pupils to have a better education and will host events throughout the year to make this possible.”

Dyslexia is a reading disorder, characterised by trouble with reading, unrelated to problems with overall intelligence, with people affected to varying degrees. Quadriplegia is the partial or total loss of the use of all four limbs and torso.
