Suspected housebreaking syndicate member arrested
A man suspected of being a member of a local housebreaking syndicate is behind bars after members of Tonga SAPS arrested him on Friday.
TONGA – According to Capt Magonseni Nkosi of Tonga SAPS, Jabulani Nkuna (41) has been linked with five cases of housebreaking, including one in KaMhlushwa and another in Komatipoort.
Nkuna appeared in the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court in Tonga on Monday and will remain in police custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday September 18.

Police hope that the accused will help lead them to the rest of the syndicate. They suspect the group was responsible for several house robberies where vehicles were stolen in the Tonga area.
Several house robberies and vehicle hijackings have also been reported in the Komatipoort area.
Const Natacia Mbuyane of Komatipoort SAPS urged residents to be extra vigilant and to ensure their doors are kept locked and alarms are activated at the appropriate times.

She said in a recent case, a bedroom suite was stolen out of a house while the owners were away.
Residents should report any suspicious persons or activities to their security company or the police promptly.
