Man found dead next to N4 after kidnapping

A man was found beaten to death next to the N4, after a group of suspects kidnapped him from his home in Hectorspruit early on Friday morning.

HECTORSPRUIT – According to Const. Natacia Mbuyane of Komatipoort SAPS, Tutana Mashele (28) was asleep when suspects broke into the house.

They woke him up when they tied his hands with wires and dragged him outside.

His wife was frantic and phoned family, who notified the police.

Members of Komatipoort SAPS rushed to the scene and then launched a search for Mashele and the suspects.

Around 05:00, a community member notified police that he had spotted a body next to the N4 near the KaMlungu tavern.

Police responded and found Mashele: shirtless, hands still tied and with bruises all over his body.

Paramedics certified him dead on the scene. They suspect he was fatally beaten before being dumped.

The motive for the murder is still unknown and police investigations continue.

Komatipoort SAPS station commander Lt Col Willie Meiring urged community members to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
