Kishugu Training Academy expresses condolences after fatal accident

A woman was killed by a passing SUV at the Kishugu Training Academy’s entrance.

Kishugu Training Academy has extended its condolences to the family and loved ones of the woman who died after being struck by a vehicle outside the institution on Wednesday, October 29.

According to information received, the woman was at the academy’s entrance when a vehicle driven by a Kishugu employee struck her at around 13:30.

“We regret to confirm that earlier today, an employee of Kishugu in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, was involved in a tragic road incident which resulted in the death of a member of the public,” said Kishugu spokesperson, Linton Rensburg.

“The incident took place off our premises. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and those impacted by this tragic event,” Rensburg added.

He said emergency services and SAPS attended the scene, and that the academy would not be issuing any further statement at this stage.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med confirmed that the emergency response team received a call at 13:40.

“When we arrived, we found that she was still under the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene,” Jeffrey said. Emer-G-Med alerted SAPS and forensic services, who took over the scene for further investigation.

Lowvelder previously reported that the deceased was a student, but updated information indicates she was a member of the public, not associated with Kishugu.
