Lydenburg’s SAPS Operation Fest proved to be a success against drugs
Police raided flatlets belonging to a local business owner in Lange Street
Operation Fest was initiated by Lydenburg SAPS station commander, Col Motseleng Lota to trace drugs and stolen properties in town. The bust took place last Thursday.
According to Lydenburg SAPS communications officer, Capt Alfred Moela, Caroline Moganedi was apprehended when she was allegedly found in possession of 347,84 grams of crystal meth, 173,53 grams of nyaope, six bicycles, three plasma TVs, cellphones, watches and microwave ovens alleged to be stolen and traded for drugs. Packs of syringes were also found on the scene.
A Nigerian male, Ifesinachi Osuchukwu, was also apprehended at the same apartment.
He was found with 20 sachets of nyaope. Both suspects appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of possesion of drugs on Tuesday. They were not asked to plea. Moganedi was granted R5 000 bail while Osuchukwu was granted R3 000 bail. They will reappear in court on Thursday January 10, 2019.
Both cases are still under investigations.
