Mayor donates blankets to the elderly
She also thanked the elderly for the huge role they played in various communities, instilling their knowledge and experience in the younger generation.
JANE FURSE – The elderly citizens of Mogorwane and Phushulang villages jubilated as they were presented with blankets on recently.
A yearly rotational special programme by Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s mayor, Minah Bahula, was hugely impacted since last year’s Covid-19 pandemic.
“The president of our country has, following consultations with his stakeholders, lifted and eased the restrictions on Covid-19 to make it possible for us during this level to interface with our communities on developmental issues, though with a limited number of people. We are, however, still urging our people to continue to adhere to Covid-19 regulations as prescribed,” said Bahula.
She also thanked the elderly for the huge role they played in various communities, instilling their knowledge and experience in the younger generation.
“This token of appreciation is government’s way of saying thank you. We thank you for always promoting social cohesion, values and peace in our societies and families, but largely, supporting the efforts of government in tackling the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment and many other ills in our communities.
We were raised by you. We know where we come from and therefore cannot ignore the big role you play in the development of our communities,” she concluded.
