Mbombela businesswomen support Grace Baby Haven

Members participated in the initiative because they want to make a difference and give back to the community.

Helping care for newborns in need by offering essential support – this was the focus of the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW) Nelspruit’s Christmas in July event, held at The Green Lizard Guest House on Thursday, July 10.
Members and guests donated baby products and clothing for less fortunate infants.

Tracy-Erin Duggan of SACBW Nelspruit said all the contributions would be handed over to Grace Baby Haven, a Mbombela-based facility that provides care for abandoned and abused babies.

“SACBW believes in giving back to the community, and that is why we decided to host this event. Members participated in the initiative because we want to make a difference,” she said.

After the formal proceedings, guests took part in various games. “While enjoying these activities, participants won several prizes. We also networked and practised our elevator pitches,” Duggan said.

As part of the council’s commitment to empowerment, members shared challenges they were facing in their personal or professional lives and received peer guidance and support.

Each year, the SACBW hosts its Recognition Awards, celebrating women who have excelled over the previous 12 months. These awards form part of the council’s annual gala, which will take place in Mbombela on October 18.

The SACBW’s leadership is tasked with identifying members who have grown in stature, expanded their business portfolios or delivered exceptional work in their communities.
