Kevin Fraser comes to the ‘Slowveld’

Joking about Lowvelders’ driving habits, Fraser explained how he made sense of the term ‘Slowveld.’

The hilarious comedy sensation, Kevin Fraser, had the audience in stitches at the White River Art Gallery with his new stand-up show on Saturday night, 6 December. Heart of the World jokes about South African culture and current affairs.

Fraser welcomed the audience by complimenting them on the way they drive, quipping that there is a reason the region is called the Slowveld. He explained that Lowvelders either drive too fast, or so slow that it looks like they are reversing.

During his performance, he took the crowd on a trip around the country, from the uninterested cashier working behind the till at Checkers, to tales of the people of KwaZulu-Natal, where he grew up. He reminisced about his childhood years and his gogo who raised him.

Fraser shared stories of his global travels and how he came to realise that South Africa is the most unique and beautiful country in the world. His accurate accent impersonations brought all his characters to life.
Beyond the fantastic jokes, Fraser’s Zulu dance moves, which took the audience by surprise, proved that he really is an all-round entertainer.
