The Rockets ride highs and lows to start the year
Just past the halfway mark in the 2025/26 season The Rockets have seven wins to their name from 16 matches thus far.
TS Galaxy’s rollercoaster 2025/26 season has continued in the new year, with mixed results from their games in January to go along with a few big outgoing transfer losses.
Following their best-ever finish in the Betway Premiership last season, that saw The Rockets claim a fifth-place finish on the log, the first half of the 2025/26 season has been filled with highs and lows. They do, however, still find themselves in seventh, only three points off third-placed Kaizer Chiefs.
TS Galaxy made the trip to Durban last weekend to take on the AmaZulu outfit, only one of two sides with a better record on home soil than TS Galaxy this season. This, combined with the fact that TS Galaxy only has the eighth-best away record in the league, meant they were in for a tall order on Sunday, January 25.

It was an extremely tight game from the onset, but the final 25 minutes were absolutely frenetic. It took until the 70th minute for Victor Letsoalo to break the deadlock and hand TS Galaxy a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later AmaZulu equalised, only for Junior Zindoga to put TS Galaxy ahead again in the 81st minute. Once again, this lead didn’t last long and things were back on level pegging thanks to an AmaZulu goal eight minutes later.
The home side ultimately had the last laugh as they netted a late winner in stoppage time to emerge 3-2 victors. This was TS Galaxy’s sixth loss of the campaign thus far, as they’re now past the halfway mark in the season with 16 matches played.
They had one other match in January, at home at Mbombela Stadium, against Marumo Gallants last Wednesday. This game ended 2-0 in TS Galaxy’s favour and was their fifth win from seven games at Mbombela Stadium this season.

With one win and one loss during January, it was an evenly split month in terms of fortunes for The Rockets. They will, however, be sad to see three key players go as they left during the January transfer window.
Puso Dithejane became the second South African player to join Chicago Fire in a deal reportedly worth about R20m. Khulumani Ndamane departed to join log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while Qobolwake Sibande transferred to North Africa, joining Egyptian side Petrojet. The loss of these three players will undoubtedly be felt by TS Galaxy as they continue pushing for a top-four spot.
Next up on their fixture list is a home clash against Sekhukhune United on Sunday, February 1, followed by an away day against Durban City on February 13.
