Bobby van Jaarsveld charms Lowvelders
Bobby van Jaarsveld has an ability few artists in the world possess, and that is to draw a diverse audience - from children to the elderly - to his performances.
MBOMBELA – The ever-so-charismatic Bobby van Jaarsveld celebrated 10 years in the music industry with his band at Emnotweni on Saturday night. The sold-out show was once again an event not to be missed.

Van Jaarsveld has an ability few artists in the world possess, and that is to draw a diverse audience – from children to the elderly – to his performances.
He is extremely popular for his Afrikaans music, including songs like “‘n Vrou Wil Dit Hoor”, “My Alles” and “Een vir Een”. During the show, he performed Gé Korsten’s “Liefling” to tremendous applause.
After seeing him interact with the audience on stage, he can only be described as a born professional performer. He engages with the crowd throughout his performance and even gets them to sing along.”I came just to see him sing his song ‘Holy’. It’s my favourite. When I run in the mornings, I listen to it on my iPod. He is my favourite musician,” said an audience member.
Van Jaarsveld started his professional career in high school when he was offered a singing record, and he released his first solo album in matric.
He won the award for best newcomer at the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards in 2006 after receiving three nominations from the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, Vonk (a local music magazine) and Huisgenoot Tempo magazine.
As the winner of this category, he performed at the Skouspel Extravaganza hosted at Sun City, and continued to do so until 2011. He is also a talented actor and is currently working on a comedy series for kykNET.
Van Jaarsveld ended off his show with his song “Spieeltjie” to an audience which did not want to see him go, as they had been swept away.
