The England Cricket team will start its preparations for the upcoming tour of South Africa when players hold their training camp in Potchefstroom from 11-17 December.
Senwes Park will play host to England captain, Allistair Cook and his men when they take on the SA invitational XI at this venue in a three-day match from 15-17 December 2015.
England is fresh from a successful subcontinent series against Pakistan which it beat in both the ODI and T20 series. Although England will be on a high, they will not be able to underestimate the South African Invitational team in their first match on South African soil.
The SA Invitational team will rely on the young talent of Aiden Markham, Heinrich Klaasen and local North West left arm spinner, Johannes Diseko against the touring team. Diseko has performed excellently for the North West Dragons and deserves a spot against England on his home ground. The experienced coach, Shukri Conrad, will be in charge of the SA invitational team for the match.
Markham will take on the captaincy duty, something he is comfortable with, having taken South Africa to the u.19 World Cup title in 2014. This match offers the young players a great opportunity to get exposure against top class international cricketers and is a great chance for players to put their names in lights.
The English will want to get used to the South African conditions and Potchefstroom will be the best place to set up a cracking cricketing summer against the Proteas.
The two sides will go head-to-head in four Sunfoil Test matches, five Momentum ODI’s and two KFC T20 International matches. The first test match between South Africa and England will be at Kingsmead, Durban from 26-30 December.
