Westvaal Bass Masters recently crowned their champions for the 2018 season.
This bass club is the oldest registered one in the North West Province. It only fishes for black bass in and around the North West borders. The championship comprises eight monthly competitions or fish-offs during the year, after which the top anglers are announced as the champions in their respective divisions.
There are prizes for the senior and junior club champions (Top Gun awards) and the heaviest bass in the senior and junior divisions.
While the competition was fierce among the seniors last year, it was a little easier for the juniors. A final fish-off determined the over-all senior winner.
Despite the stiff competition, Dion Williams from Carletonville was hailed as the senior club champion.
In addition to being the junior club champion, Joe Khourie from Koster also caught the heaviest bass in the junior division, weighing in at 1,86 kg. Pieter Khourie, also from Koster, caught the heaviest bass in the senior division. His specimen was an impressive 2,78 kg. The president congratulated all the respective champions for their consistent performances during club competitions and dedication to the sport of bass fishing. The 2019 season is already halfway and anyone interested in joining the Westvaal Bass Masters club can contact the club president, Bruce Eadie, at 082 888 1575 or dr.g.eadie@gds.co.za for further details.
