Argentine striker to start training with Chiefs on Monday – reports

Kaizer Chiefs' search for a new striker has intensified as they are expected to host Argentine forward Jonathan Javier Philippe on trial.

Phillippe is said to have arrived in South Africa before his trial, and will join the team at Naturena after they return from their preseason match against Township Rollers in Botswana.

The tall centre forward was on the books of Argentine giants Boca Juniors before joining Greek second-tier club Agrotikos Asteros.

Coach Steve Komphela admits they have five players that they have identified to contribute goals.

“We need to get a goal scorer, there is a big difference between a striker and goal scorer. You need someone who will just bang in goals, it makes a big difference. They are already identified,” said Komphela.

“All of them upon identification have gone to Europe, some went to Cyprus, one from Cameroon went there, one from Bolivia and Argentina also went there. There is another one from Denmark, we are looking for a top player to complete the puzzle on top.”
