Ex-Chiefs midfielder stops training with Highlands

Highlands Park have decided against signing former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mandla Masango.

Masango joined the Lions of the North for trials as he hopes to get back on the field. The 29-year-old has been a free agent since he was released by Danish side Randers FC in July last year.

Coach Owen Da Gama says the club decided not to sign any players at this time of the league with only nine games to play before the end of the season.

The former Bafana Bafana coach admits that they were other factors that led to the team releasing the player but was not keen to speak about them.

“No, he is no longer with us, he left last week,” Da Gama told Phakaaathi.

When asked why the club didn’t sign Masango, Da Gama said: “I cannot give such reasons, but the most important thing is at this stage in the league it was not a priority. There were other factors as well but to respect the player he is no longer with us.”
