In-form Sekhukhune eye Pirates scalp

'We are looking for maximum points. We are at home, and looking to finish as high as possible (in the table),' said Sekhukhune head coach Lehlohonolo Seema.

Sekhukhune United head coach Lehlohonolo Seema says his team are looking to take down Orlando Pirates when the two teams meet in a DStv Premiership tie on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Babina Noko take on the Buccaneers on the back of four straight wins in the DStv Premiership since the season resumed in 2024. That run has lifted Sekhukhune to sixth in the table, just three points behind the second-placed Buccaneers.

“We are not bothered or saying we have arrived, we know we are four or five games unbeaten but that is nothing,” said Seema.

“We want to improve … we are not even looking at saying we are on form or can match Pirates. But we are looking for maximum points. We are at home, and looking to finish as high as possible (in the table).

“We are asking for Babina Noko (the fans), our 12th player to come in their numbers and support the boys, so the boys can do their thing on the field of play.”

Bafana stars

Seema added that he was pleased to see Nyiko Mobbie and Elias Mokwana play for Bafana in the recent friendlies against Andorra and Algeria. Mokwana started and scored against Andorra and came off the bench to play a huge role in another goal against Algeria.

Mobbie, meanwhile, played the last 30 minutes or so against Andorra, and the whole match against Algeria.

“We missed Mobbie and Mokwana but I am happy as a coach that they are getting minutes. They were active and that is good for us.”
