Komphela hints at Mphahlele return against Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela decleared defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele "fit and ready" to face Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Mphahlele has been on Komphela’s bench as an unused substitute since recovering from his injury.

He had lost his position to Joseph Molangoane, however, with the speedy winger-cum-right-back sent off in the game against Baroka making, Mphahlele could make a return to the Chiefs starting line-up against the Brazilians.

“Rama has recovered fully, he has made the squad. At any given time he can play.

“Rama plays more as a right wing-back and we’ve been using Tight in there, playing 3-4-3,” said Komphela.

“He’s been training extremely well and we are waiting for the day he comes in.

“With Molangoane suspended, could this be an opportunity for him? Who knows?

“We don’t want to tell Sundowns who’s going to be on the team sheet – but there’s a possibility. We still have (Kgotso) Moleko, (Bhongolethu) Jayiya who can play out wide.

“But Mphahlele is a top professional. It’s a pity he got injured – before he got injured he was on song.”
