According to the Sowetan, soccer legend Marks Maponyane is accused of assaulting his wife Sylvia in December last year.
She reportedly laid the charges against Marks in December at the Midrand police station. She claimed the former Chiefs and Pirates player had assaulted her during an argument.
The case against Marks was postponed to next month because the docket was locked in the prosecutor’s office.
Prosecutor Momo Selwadi told the court the state was ready to proceed, but asked that the matter should be postponed.
“The docket is locked in the office. We tried to get a locksmith with no success,” Selwadi is quoted as saying.
Magistrate Flora Maila postponed the case to next month for a possible plea.
“We apologise for the inconvenience that we were unable to work today (Tuesday),” said Maila.
