Pirates target dreams of playing for Chiefs

Orlando Pirates are expected to raid Maritzburg United for their star players when the end of season transfer window comes around.

Cape Town-born defender Rushine de Reuck is said to be on his way out of United with Pirates looking to fork out a sum of money for his services to bolster their squad for next season. Another Team of Choice player set to jump on board the Pirates ship is Siyanda Xulu, who is De Reuck’s defensive partner at the coastal club. Xulu’s deal with United is set to expire at the end of the season.

De Reuck revealed he grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs and dreamed of playing for the Soweto giants but says his first priority is to find a team in Europe.

“You know when you’re young and your father supports whichever team and you end up supporting whatever team as well, so my father supported Manchester United in England and Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa and because of that I supported them too,” De Reuck told Goal.

“So, Chiefs has always been a team that I wanted to play for, but I am obviously not thinking about that now because I set my sights on returning to Europe.”
