Sundowns release Onyango to mourn his father

Mamelodi Sundowns have given goalkeeper Denis Onyango permission to go to Uganda to mourn his late father.

As a result, Onyango will miss tonight’s clash against Highlands Park and could also miss Sunday’s crunch game against Kaizer Chiefs.

“It is with great sadness that we learnt of the passing on of the father of Denis Onyango,” read a statement on the Sundowns website.

“The club has released Denis to mourn this great loss and he will immediately leave for Uganda with his family.

“He has the full support of all his teammates, technical team, management, board and the club president.

“We all wish him and his family all the strength during these trying times.”

Sundowns host Highlands at Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight and then meet Chiefs at Loftus Stadium on Sunday.
