Most memorable celebrity body transformations of 2022

Whether they turned to surgery or exercise and diet, we take a look at some of the most memorable celebrity body transformations of 2022.

Most people begin their year with weight loss resolutions and not many remain true to their goals as the year gets busier and commitment becomes harder. However, these South African celebrities remained steadfast in their goals and have achieved their ideal bodies through a range of means.

We take a look at some of the most memorable celebrity body transformations of 2022.

Kefilwe Mabote

A few months ago, influencer Kefilwe Mabote turned to plastic surgeon Dr Brian Monaisa to take her envy-worthy curves to the next level with some body contouring. Dr Monaisa specialises in mommy makeovers, breast rejuvenation, body contouring, tummy tucks, BBLs and liposuction.

After she healed, she showed off his work on a trip to the Maldives with Real Housewives of Dubai star Caroline Brooks.

According to the Cleavland Clinic, body contouring, or body sculpting, is a medical or surgical procedure that aims to reshape an area of the body. It may involve procedures to get rid of extra skin, eliminate excess fat and reshape or contour the area.

“Body contouring does not usually help you lose weight. Instead, it helps shape the body and address specific areas where weight loss isn’t effective or after significant weight loss results in extra skin,” explained the clinic.

LaConco

One of this year’s most memorable celebrity body transformations was that of Real Housewives of Durban star Nonkanyiso ‘Laconco’ Conco who had liposuction done to her midsection in addition to a range of other lifestyle changes to achieve the body of her dreams.

Faith Nketsi

While she has been accused of turning to surgical and aesthetic procedures to get back her pre-baby body, reality TV star Faith Nketsi has denied getting any work done to her body after she gave birth to her first child.

She did, however, show off her three-month post-partum “snapback,” claiming that it was all natural.

Sbahle Mpisane

South African fitness “bunny” Sbahle Mpisane opened up about how she lost 40kg through a Renewal Institute Diet (RID) weight loss programme and how she exercised religiously to shed the weight.

Sbahle, since September, has been sharing her weight loss journey on her social media accounts, citing she “cried every day in disappointment” when she gained over 40kgs in 2019, following her devastating car accident in 2018.

However, she trained consistently and followed a couple of programmes to attain her goal.

Nkanyiso Bhengu

South African actor and TV presenter Nkanyiso Bhengu has long-been known for both his talent and his weight, however, he recently decided to go on a weightloss journey that is arguably one of the most impressive celebrity body transformations on this list.

He said that he has been overweight since childhood but decided to make a change in 2019. That is when he launched a national anti-obesity campaign under the hashtag #walkitoffwithnkanyiso.

The actor has also been documenting his efforts and results on his social media pages, piquing the interest of fans and followers who often share words of enocurgament with him.

“I’ve always been overweight. It’s been who I am for most of my life, but it didn’t make my life as difficult as it is now. When I was younger, I could handle my weight better and still do most things, but now as I get older, it is becoming more and more dangerous for me,” he told TshisaLIVE in a past interview.

“I have a family, a wife and children, and I don’t want to leave them before I would have if I had just shed some weight. I don’t want to die,” he added.

IOL reports that he started off weighing 189kgs, and his last weigh-in a year ago was sitting at 151kgs.

Lwazilubanzi Mthembu

Earlier this year, South African actress and singer Lwazilubanzi Mthembu opened up about the lifestyle change that helped her drop 11kgs in a few months.

According to reports, the actress has set a goal of losing a further 25kgs after losing weight with the help of her personal trainer, a dietitian, and a support structure from the clinic she joined.

Having been overwight her entire life, Lwazi told Drum Magazine that tried to begin her weight loss journey three years ago. However, she said she was “terrible” at it as she didn’t know anything about living well.

“The industry, in the beginning, was not kind to fuller-figured women and that’s how I wanted to start losing weight.

“There were also many things I had to endure in the industry because I was overweight. My self-esteem was damaged, and I realised that I needed to lose weight for my mental health,” Lwazi told Drum.

After failing at her first attempt, the actress says her knees started to hurt at the age of 28. Thereafter, she had to witness the aftermath of her sister having a stroke and her father’s passing from Covid-19. These tragedies motivated her to lose weight through the help of healthy eating and exercise.

The House of Zwide actress, who plays the character Nomsa, wants to help other women who struggle with weight loss and curb lifestyle illnesses like diabetes and heart attacks.

Sithelo Shozi

Earlier this year, socialite and DJ Sithelo Shozi took to her Instagram stories to reveal she got a Brazilian butt lift and liposuction.

She shared graphic before-and-after pictures of her body transformation.

She turned to The Clinique Istanbul in Turkey to get her procedure done after seeing what the clinic was able to do for influencer and reality TV star, Eva Modika.

Sithelo – who is a mother of three – said this was the best reward she could give herself.

“I wish we’d retract the surgery stigma we seem to pass on. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with giving yourself a makeover, it’s each to their own when it comes to such after three children. This was the best decision and best reward I could’ve given myself,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.

She also explained that had gone on a strict diet ahead of the procedure and that she specifically wanted to target her “hip dips”.

“After spending the past two months doing some diet planning and endless takeout’s, I was finally able to gain enough weight and fat for the procedure I wanted. My hip dips must’ve been my biggest worry and also achieving my desired shape.”
