DStv Delicious Festival: No cooler boxes and other important ‘house rules’

Heading to the DStv Delicious Festival this weekend? Here's the low-down on what you can and can't take onto the festival grounds with you.

Grab your sun hat, sunglasses, and don your most radiant smile and stylish attire and get ready to step into the spotlight as the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival takes over the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit this weekend.

On Thursday morning Funeka Peppeta, Media Director of the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, said in a statement preparations for the festival were well under way.

“We are gearing up for an epic 10th anniversary edition, with enhanced security and traffic management, reduced capacity, free water stations, a larger variety of artisanal food and product traders, an easier payment system and more bar frontage than ever before.

“We are pulling out all the stops to ensure an awesome festival experience for everyone – it’s all systems go for the Heritage Day weekend,” she said.

Your ‘survival guide’ for the DStv Delicious Festival

What to bring

Remember to pack sunscreen, a sun hat, a foldable camping chair, or a picnic blanket. You can also bring small handheld umbrellas if you would like.

And, most importantly, wear comfy shoes because you will be partying like a pro throughout the entire day.

What to leave at home

  • Cooler boxes with your own food and beverages will not be allowed onto the festival grounds.
  • Beach and golf umbrellas, as well as pillows, will not be allowed.
  • Drinking alcohol in the parking areas is strictly prohibited,
  • There’s a no pass-out policy in place.

Money

Once again, the festival operates as a cashless environment, where vendors will gladly accept all major credit and debit cards.

Water

You can access unlimited complimentary water at the festival’s newly established hydration stations, or if you prefer, you may also purchase water at the beverage stands.

How to get there

Parking space is limited. So it is suggested to utilise the Gautrain or a ride-sharing service like Uber or Bolt to reach the event.

A designated ride-sharing drop-off and pickup area will be available for festival attendees to ensure smoother traffic flow.

Parking for the DStv Delicious Festival

On-site parking during the festival will be priced at R400, but if you buy a parking pass in advance online, you will secure it for just R100. Keep in mind parking availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Security

To guarantee a secure festival experience, all attendees must download the Ticketmaster app, which offers top-tier security for all ticket-related matters.

Security personnel will be present at the primary entrance of Kyalami and throughout the area during the festival.

Extra security measures have been put in place to ensure your safety and a hassle-free festival experience across both days.
