Lowveld’s junior golfers drive their way to success at Mbombela Golf Club

The tournament produced excellent golf from the Lowveld's top junior players.

The best junior golfers in the Lowveld converged on Mbombela Golf Club to compete in the Westvaal Motor Group and Chicken Licken Lowveld Junior Championships on Sunday May 19.

Henco Coetzee won the senior boys’ championship with a gross score of 151. He carded 78 in the morning round and 73 in the afternoon round to finish on nine over par.

Carl Myburgh was second on +12 (151) with rounds of 77 and 77.

Third place went to Antoni Theron on +14 (156). He shot rounds of 81 and 75.

The senior girls’ competition was dominated by Alieke van Zyl. Her morning 83 and an afternoon 79 put her
on 20 over par for the tournament.

Paulette Sibiya was second on +33 with rounds of 93 and 82.

The junior boys’ gross title went to André de Kock, whose rounds of 81 and 87, and a total of 168, earned him victory.

JP Burger was second on 175 and Helgardt Kruger third on 176.

Chantay-Lee Visser was in fine form, carding 94 and 90 for a gross total of 184 and the win in the junior girls’ gross
competition.

Second place went to Nina Schoeman on 192 and third to Miné Watermeyer on 203.
