Sundowns to pocket millions in Champions League

After booking their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s Caf Champions League Mamelodi Sundowns have already secured themselves US$650 000 (approximately R8,750, 000).

Getting into the semi-finals is worth US$875,000 (approximately R11,795,000) while the winner of the competition will take a US$2,5 million (R33,7 million) cheque back to their country, with the silver medallists pocketing half of that amount.

The Brazilians earned US$1,5 million (approximately R20 million) last season for winning the Caf Champions League title and went on to pocket US$1 million (approximately R13, 48 million) for finishing sixth in the Fifa Club World Cup.
