Tembo laments ‘hectic’ travelling

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says his side's travelling has taken its toll on some of his key players, hence he had to make changes in United's 1-1 draw away to Polokwane City on Tuesday night.

Despite the changes made, Tembo was happy with the point gained from the match.

“A point wasn’t bad for both sides. We travelled on Friday and we played on Saturday and on Sunday we travelled to Pretoria and we trained and we trained again on Monday and travelled on the same day, so it has been hectic,” said Tembo.

“We couldn’t play the same players because we had to freshen the team up because of fatigue. The likes of Thuso and Morgan were fresh and did well and that’s what needed because we played a team which was well rested.

“We played in patches and we were a little bit disjointed but I think it is expected when you makes changes but I think tactically we were okay,” he added.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori are three points behind Absa Premiership pace setters Bidvest Wits. However, Tembo says his side is consistent in their performances and believes they are well equipped to compete for league honours this season.

“If you look at it, we have won four games, lost two and drew one and that for me is not inconsistent. Our past results here, we have never really came out with much so a point for me is good. It is a long road and probably this point could win us the league. It is still too early, we still need to keep up with the leading pack.”
