RHODurban: What do Nonku Williams and Jesus Christ have in common?

By Kaunda Selisho

A day after trending for her engagement, Real Housewives of Durban (RHODurban) star Nonku Williams is trending once again, this time for comparing herself to Jesus Christ.

The comparison comes amid tension among the housewives after Jojo’s trip to Sani Pass in The Drakensburg where she threw a tantrum at dinner and left her own trip.

The latest RHODurban episode opened with a group dinner where the women played yet another game of “she said, she said”.

The women continued to harp on about whether or not Sane said that Annie had slept her way to the top, while Sane continued to deny that she ever said that. This despite Sane admitting to Sorisha in private during the previous episode that she did actually say that about Annie.

Nonku then turned her ire towards Maria, calling her an evil witch after hearing that there was a sentiment among the group that she is “the bad weed”.

Jesus comparison

During her RHODurban diary session about the last Sani Pass dinner, Nonku then said that she finally understood what Jesus went through when people called for his crucifixion.

Shen then left the dinner in dramatic fashion, adding – “You know what the best thing is for me to do right now? Take my fat a** and leave this group”.

Nonku then did some of the best acting she has done this season as she cried alone in her room.

She later brought up the crucifixion in a separate conversation with Sorisha after they got home from the trip.

“I’m not saying that I’m Jesus or whatever,” said Nonku and Sorisha interjected adding “partly, yes”.

“I read my Bible, I read the part where Jesus was crucified and I think for the first time – I’m not saying that I’m Jesus or whatever… You know, when he was about to be hung on the cross and everybody was saying ‘crucify him, crucify him, crucify him!’, that’s exactly how I felt.”

Sorisha then asked her what Christ said to his disciples at the time of His crucifixion

“He said ‘fear not, because they know not what they do.’ Do you understand?” she asked Nonku.

Nonku’s retort was that a lot of people quote the Bible but they do not believe what they are saying.

She later took a dig at the comment in an Instagram post shared on the day that the RHODurban episode aired, writing: “’Father, forgive them for they know not what they do’ is one of the 7 sayings Jesus said on the cross as for “fear not” part hhayi is not make sure…

Sorisha then got frank with Nonku, telling her that she feels as though Nonku is often blinded by friendships which leads her to letting people get away with murder when she wants a friendship with them.

Nonku did not seem to accept what Sorisha had to say to her.

Mbali re-emerges and pops off

After not appearing for a few RHODurban episodes, season three addition Mbali Ngiba re-emerged and went to visit Slee for a catch-up session.

Slee then informed Mbali that she and Nonku were no longer friends, and Mbali asked why so that she could determine where she stood with Nonku if Nonku was going around gossiping about people.

Slee then told Mbali that Nonku said Mbali gave her “Mabusi vibes” before they became friends.

Mabusi Seeme is a cast member who appeared on RHODurban season 2 as a friend to the show.

Mbali then took serious offence to the comment, asking what “Mabusi vibes” means before calling Nonku an alcoholic.

In her conversation with Slee, Mbali said she though Nonku was a nice person, who had just been through a lot in life and added that she now does not know how to feel about her.

She then poured the bottle of Nonku’s wine that they were drinking down Slee’s sink, stating that Nonku’s wine tastes awful. She also took a dig at Rough Diamond (Nonku’s partner), calling him a jailbird.

She continued on her tirade and left Slee’s home in a huff.

Explaining her decision to leave in a diary session after the fact, Mbali said that she also wondered why she was the topic of conversation and what Slee and Nonku were talking about for Nonku to feel comfortable enough to make the “Mabusi vibes” comment to Slee.

Fight night

The RHODurban episode ended with a group outing to a fight night with two fighters whom each of the different cliques had claimed as their avatars. The fight was organised by Jojo’s husband, Calven, who used to be a fighter before he became a businessman.

The night featured exhibition matches by athletes associated with the MMA Athlete Fund.

Upon arrival at fight night, Nonku went up to Mbali and attempted to greet her, not knowing that Mbali had been turned against her. She wasted no time confronting Nonku about the comment and drawing a line in the sand between them, much to Nonku’s confusion.

Noticing Nonku’s confusion, Mbali said she wondered if Slee may have made things up due to Nonku’s confusion.

Later on in the episode, the clique that consists of Sorisha, Slee and Annie arrived dressed in coordinated outfits.
