Who is Tamia, the R&B Diva coming to SA for a fourth concert?

The talented live performer’s last show in South Africa was in 2019.


Canadian-born songstress Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill will be returning to South Africa later this year for a fourth time over the past decade.

G Twenty One Live and Vertex Events announced on Tuesday morning that the multi-Grammy-nominated international artist will be touring the country with a three-city tour in July.

Tamia has released multiple albums, collaborated with several prominent international musical icons and is well known for her philanthropic work within the music industry over the span of her career. 

Her South African tour will kick off on Tuesday 4 July at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in the Cape Town. She will also be performing at the Durban ICC in KwaZulu-Natal and at the Sunbet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria.

Tickets for Tamia’s three-city tour have already gone on sale. Limited tickets for the seated concert are available at Ticketpro and range from R390 to R1490.

Who is Tamia?

Tamia Marilyn Washington Hill is a Canadian-born R&B singer and songwriter. The talented singer, who was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, already had a flare for the entertainment industry from a young age.

Not only did Tamia perform in various singing and dancing competition as a child, she also earned her first Grammy Award nomination for her collaboration with Quincy Jones in 1995.

She released her self-titled album in 1998 followed by several other successful albums including a Nu Day in 2000 and More in 2004 which saw several songs from these albums become hit singles on the pop and R&B record charts.

She’s also had several other hit sings during her successful career including Imagination, So Into You, and Stranger in my House which hit number three on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs, and number one on the Dance Club songs chart.

The diva received her fifth and sixth Grammy nominations for her album Beautiful Surprise in 2012.
