Ex-Pirates star speaks on losing friends and playing in ABC League

Former Orlando Pirates forward Khethokwakhe Masuku says he is not down and out having joined ABC League with Baberwa United.

Masuku’s move to the club came as a surprise to many who thought the player has fallen from grace. However, the forward says he still hopes to get back into the Absa Premiership.

“Since I am playing in the Motsepe League, most of my friends who play in the PSL have chosen to stay away from me,” Masuku was quoted as saying by The Sowetan.

“You cannot control life but its life that controls you. It’s a lesson that in life not everyone you meet cares about you. I can tell you that for now I am financially stable because of my savings. I am coping, my brother. Obviously, the salaries won’t be the same [in the PSL and in the Motsepe League]. You only have to adjust your lifestyle here and there…appreciate what you get.”

The 33-year-old has played for Black Leopards, Orlando Pirates, Royal Eagles, Bloemfontein Celtic and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila before making a move to the ABC Motsepe League.
