The content creator and television personality was unmasked after being sent to the Danger Zone against Gogga.
Lasizwe Dambuza was revealed as Sushi on the latest episode of The Masked Singer South Africa Season 3.
The content creator and television personality was unmasked after being sent to the Danger Zone against Gogga.
Somizi Mhlongo was the only detective who correctly identified Lasizwe before his unmasking. His correct guess moved him closer to winning the Golden Ear trophy, which is awarded to the detective who identifies the most masked celebrities.
Lasizwe’s clues leave detectives guessing
Sushi performed several songs during his time on the show, including Outkast’s Hey Ya!, Mandoza’s Nkalakatha, and Babes Wodumo’s Umngan’wami.
The character’s clue packages also contained several references that pointed to Lasizwe’s career and background.
Among the clues were references to “a national hero”, a “literal princess”, an upbringing rooted in grace, faith and content creation.
The detectives considered several possible identities throughout the season.
These included content creator and radio and television personality Okay Wasabi, Springbok Cheslin Kolbe, content creator Primo Baloyi, and former footballer Bongani Khumalo.
Sithelo Shozi also considered Dr Musa Mthombeni, partly because of the clue referring to a princess. Mthombeni is married to former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie.
During the latest episode, host Mpho Popps brought back “The Clue Game”.
The clue generator landed on a cellphone, a Martini glass, and an R10 note.
The items were later linked to different parts of Lasizwe’s career.
He started creating content after winning a cellphone in a competition. The R10 clue was linked to the “R10 Goes a Long Way” campaign, which he helped launch in 2021 to assist students struggling with registration fees.
The Martini glass was linked to his YouTube show Drink or Tell the Truth.
J’Something interpreted the cellphone as a reference to digital fame but continued to believe Sushi was a musician. He guessed singer and producer Musa Keys.
Sithelo maintained her earlier guess of Dr Musa Mthombeni.
Guest detective Jason Goliath also missed the mark, identifying comedian and former South Africa’s Got Talent host Tats Nkonzo.
Somizi, however, was convinced that the clues pointed to Lasizwe.
He also picked up on Sushi’s distinctive walk and the reference to YouTube.
Lasizwe reacts after the reveal
Following the voting results, Sushi was placed in the Danger Zone alongside Gogga.
Gogga ultimately won the battle, forcing Sushi to reveal his identity.
After being unmasked, Lasizwe told Mpho Popps that he enjoyed performing in disguise.
He also joked about his dancing skills.
“I don’t know how to dance, but I can now. Y’all can book me!” he said.
