It has always been a case that when Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs face each other, there has to be one special player in either side.

The one who is in it for the crowd and Pirates has that player in Thabo “Jomo” Rakhale.

The winger has made a name for himself since he made his debut for the Buccaneers.

His dazzling skills are a nightmare to opposition players, and he puts them to good use for his team.

Such was the case in the last Soweto derby during a league game, when he helped Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 at the FNB Stadium.

“I did well in the last one that we won, I gave my team confidence to play so hopefully I can do the same this time round,” said Rakhale.

Ahead of the Soweto giants clash at the same venue on Saturday, Rakhale is expecting a similar approach from both teams.

The midfielder adds that a win is vital for the teams, as they come from unfavourable results.

“I only know how to play my game and going into the derby won’t be any different. I hope that I will be able to give us a boost. The nature of the derby is such that we’ll both be going for it and wanting to win. Prior results won’t change that.”

“The fact that both teams lost their game going into the derby means nothing. Both teams will be under pressure anyway,” he said.
