Eskom evidence leader fired for swearing and threatening financial journalist

Citizen Reporter

Sebetja Matsaung has had his contract terminated by Eskom after he lost his temper and insulted Financial Mail's deputy editor after a disciplinary hearing yesterday.

“Eskom condemns Matsaung’s behaviour in the strongest terms possible. We wish to convey our unreserved apologies that this unfortunate incident occurred”, Eskom said in a press statement.

A video went viral yesterday afternoon of Matsaung swearing at Financial Mail’s deputy editor Sikonathi Mantshantsha. This occurred after a disciplinary hearing for former acting Eskom CEO Matshela Koko who is answering on allegations that he awarded tenders worth millions to his stepdaughter’s company.

In the video Matsaung is visibly angry, paces the room and at one point wags his finger in the face of Mantshantsha whom he says is a pathological liar and writes sensationalist articles.

Mantshantsha tweeted that he had received an apology from Matsaung and was safe.
