Just in time for Halloween, wreathed in smoke and cloaked in the scent of crunchy barley sugar and sharp apples, a Wee Beastie will be unleashed. Hailing from the remote isle of Islay, Ardbeg’s latest addition to the distillery’s Ultimate Range, is the five-year-old Wee Beastie.
Patrick John Leslie, Whisky Portfolio Manager, says, “In the past ten years, six different Ardbeg expressions have won prestigious titles including World Whisky of the Year, Scotch Whisky of the Year and World’s Best Single Malt, so it is really exciting for us to share the latest addition to more and more South Africans.”

Having spent five years in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being unshackled, this monster of smoke lathers your palette with hints of crisp apples, ash, and a big hit of damp peat smoke to start. Then, without warning, an explosive mouthfeel bursts forth with chocolate, creosote, and tar. Finally savoury meats sink into the palate, before the long salty mouthcoating finish slinks away… revealing the inner beast of this Islay icon. An aged dram that still holds the brashness of youth, the Wee Beastie is perfect for experienced whisky drinkers and novices alike.
