Komphela’s team were an improved outfit and gave championship favourites, Sundowns a hard run.

“Both teams could have won it. We had great chances, and those could have decided the game,” said Komphela after the game.

Komphela did well to close down Downs’ danger men, Keagan Dolly and Khama Biliat, and the former Maritzburg United mentor was happy with how his charges executed the plan.

“We closed their danger men well, they didn’t have space to create any serious chances. We defended as a unit, and our counter attacks were good.”
