Chile and Arsenal playmaker Alexis Sanchez scored his ninth goal in five games for club and country, when the Copa America winners beat Peru 4-3 in a World Cup qualifier last night.

Sanchez gave Chile the lead in the opening seven minutes of the game, when Mauricio Isla played the ball to him. The Arsenal man beat the goalkeeper by poking the ball into the back of the net.

Peru’s Jefferson Farfan scored twice to put the hosts in the lead, however, their joy was short lived as goals from Eduardo Vargas and another from Sanchez regained Chile’s lead.

Vargas completed his brace from a Sanchez assist to make it 4-2 for Chile before Paolo Guerrero reduced the deficit late in the match.
Sanchez began his incredible goal scoring tally with a hat-trick against Leicester City in the Premier League. His other goals came from the games against Olympiakos (one), Manchester United (two) and Brazil (one).
