Polokwane City coach Luc Eymael believes South Africa has what it takes to do good on club and international football.

“You have all the elements to succeed in this country considering the amount of resources that are available to the clubs. Obviously, some clubs have more resources, but the ingredients are all there for clubs to be successful. I think the country needs to be doing much better in Africa,” Eymael told the PSL website.

“We had Sundowns winning the Champions League now, but it should be something happening a lot more regularly and I think having one club in the knockout stages of each of the Caf competitions is a must, considering all the resources the clubs have available,” the City coach added.

“If this happens, then naturally I think your national team will also improve, because there is no doubt that you have very good players as well. I have seen over a number of years looking in from the outside and South Africa should be a much better international team.”

Eymael, who has spent only four months in the country as head coach of Rise and Shine He has previously coached around the African continent.
