Orlando Pirates defender Thabo Matlaba says he is happy with the team after managing to finish in the top half of the table following a poor start to the season.

The Buccaneers finished their league campaign on position seven on the log table after allowing SuperSport United to come back twice to level the scores to 2-2 in their last league game at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

“We didn’t start the season very well. We wanted to finish third, but we did not. So, we had an opportunity to finish in the top eight and that is what we did,” said Matlaba after winning Man-of-the-match award playing as a left winger.

“I think we have done extremely well to finish in the top eight. We did not want to be those players who did not finish in the top eight. I am happy we made it.”
