Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have a score to settle, as Amakhosi gave away a 10 point lead allowing the Brazilians to overtake them in the title race last season. Sundowns were eventually crowned PSL Champions with a game to spare.

I have dubbed University of Pretoria the MVP (Most Valuable Team) of the PSL. This is because AmaTuks face the top three teams on the log and the bottom two in their next league ties. They will line up against Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday in a game that could send Chiefs 13 points clear at the top. AmaZulu and Moroka Swallows are fighting to stay in the PSL league with 15 points to play for respectively.

Mamelodi Sundowns are in second place, with a game in hand and 10 points adrift of Kaizer Chiefs. Sundowns’ last game of the season is against AmaTuks. Depending on how many points the Brazilians collect ahead of that match, the students form on the day could decide who walks away with the league trophy.

Sammy Troughton and his chargers are aiming for a top 8 finish in order to compete in the MTN 8 competition later on this year. Troughton will fight to achieve this milestone at the expense of teams with a great history in South African football.
